"The Language of Insects and Flora" Hong Kong Secondary School Nature Essay Competition — Senior Secondary Section Merit Award

The "The Language of Insects and Flora" Hong Kong Secondary School Nature Essay Competition, organized by The Education University of Hong Kong, has successfully concluded. The competition aimed to promote nature writing within the local academic community, raise students' awareness of natural ecology, cultivate the noble character of "benevolence towards all living things," and enhance their writing skills.

 

Drawing inspiration from the wooded path in front of the school gate, 4B Zhang Hanyun composed a prose essay titled The Wind Through the Treetops. Her work stood out among over four hundred entries, earning her the Merit Award in the Senior Secondary Section.

 

Zhang attended the prize presentation ceremony on July 18th, where she immersed herself in the charm of literature by attending creative sharing sessions and poetry recitals by esteemed writers and judges, including Wong Leung Wo, Chung Kwok Keung, Yip Hiu Man, Tsui Cheuk Yin, Wong Yi, and Chau Tsz Yan. During the ceremony, Zhang received special recognition from Professor Wong Leung Wo, who publicly praised lines cited directly from her essay. After the ceremony, Zhang engaged in delightful and relaxing conversations with the judges.
