STEM Racing Hong Kong & Macau
2026-05-23

Our students recently participated in the STEM Racing (Hong Kong & Macau) competition. The Development Class competition was successfully held on 23 May 2026 at the Hong Kong Science and Technology Park.

STEM Racing is a multidisciplinary STEM competition for students. Officially supported by Formula 1 (F1), the competition challenges teams of students to operate like actual F1 constructor teams. Students are required to design, build, and race their own miniature cars. Similar to a professional F1 crew, our students divided themselves into a structured team, with each member stepping into a specific, dedicated role to drive the project forward.

Our students completed an intensive 30-hour training program. They gained hands-on experience with industry-grade engineering tools and manufacturing technologies. Students utilized Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software to sketch and model the car's exterior. They then ran advanced simulations using Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) software to optimize the vehicle's aerodynamic efficiency. After that, the students brought their concepts to life using Computer Numerical Control (CNC) milling and 3D printing technologies.

The competition was about much more than just raw speed. Our students immersed themselves in the commercial side of the racing world, learning essential skills in business operations, marketing, and team branding. At the event, they designed and built a Pit Display, where they confidently pitched and presented their ideas to a panel of professional judges and experts from both the engineering and motorsport industries.

Our team has successfully qualified for the next round of the competition. The upcoming stage is tentatively scheduled to take place in late 2026. The team will continue to refine their designs and race toward the finals. Stay tuned for more updates!
