Our school participated in the “An Exploration into the Natural Environment and Ethnic Culture in Xinjiang (2025/26)” organized by the Education Bureau from 28 June to 4 July. Led by Mr. Ng Chi Keung, this exchange tour brought together ten S3 to S5 students from our school, along with teachers and students from other schools, for a total of 88 participants, to visit Xinjiang and learn through a journey across sites of natural beauty and ethnic culture.
In terms of natural environment, students visited famous attractions such as Heavenly Lake of Tianshan, Kanas Lake, Wucaitan, Kumtag Desert and the Flaming Mountains in Turpan. Through these visits, they experienced Xinjiang’s beautiful and unique natural landscape firsthand, gained a deeper understanding of the diversity of nature environment, and strengthened their awareness of environmental conservation and ecological security.
In terms of ethnic culture, students experienced the customs and traditions of the Kazakh ethnic group, enjoyed traditional performances by the Tuvans of the Mongolian ethnic group, and visited the Xinjiang Intangible Cultural Heritage Museum. They also had the opportunity to learn about Chinese intangible cultural heritage items such as egg carving and stencil printing, which deepened their understanding of the customs and cultural traditions of different ethnic groups in Xinjiang, further enhancing their cultural confidence and awareness of the protection and inheritance of national culture.
The tour was a fulfilling one. Students not only broadened their horizons, but also built a strong sense of teamwork through mutual support and exploration, making this exchange experience especially unique and valuable.
