Teacher Development Day Successfully Held (March 13, 2026)

The 2025–2026 Teacher Development Day was successfully held on 13 Mar 2026, at City University of Hong Kong. The event aimed to foster professional exchange among teachers, enhance teaching strategies, and explore emerging trends in artificial intelligence in education. The programme featured a workshop on team-based learning and two keynote seminars on AI in education.

 

The day commenced at the Libratorium-A with a welcome address by Professor Steve Wong Hang, Associate Vice-President (Community Engagement). Subsequently, Dr. Chi Un Leon Lei, Senior Education Development Officer at the Talent and Education Development Office (TED), delivered a presentation detailing the rationales and practices underpinning Digital Team-Based Learning. In the ensuing workshop, interactive activities fostered collaboration and reflection among teachers, encouraging them to explore new approaches to pedagogy.

In the afternoon session, the focus shifted to the latest developments in AI education. Professor Santiago Alonso Sousa, Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences, delivered a talk entitled “Teaching and Assessment in the Age of AI: Practical Strategies for Secondary School Classrooms”. His presentation offered practical insights into how AI tools can be effectively integrated to enhance teaching and learning. Following this, Professor Ray Cheung Chak-Chung, Associate Provost (Digital Learning), presented “AI in Reshaping Academic Development and Career Transformation”, examining the profound impact of artificial intelligence on educational development and career planning. Together, these sessions highlighted the transformative role of AI in shaping pedagogical strategies and future professional trajectories.

This Teacher Development Day not only reinforced collaboration between our school and the City University of Hong Kong but also equipped participating teachers with the latest knowledge of AI applications in education. The event stimulated fresh perspectives on classroom design and assessment models, encouraging educators to rethink traditional practices. Through the integration of team-based learning and expert-led lectures, teachers broadened their horizons and collectively explored innovative directions for the future of education.
