Visiting the Haven of Hope Hospital
2025-11-08

To gain a deeper understanding of the development of the medical industry, our students participated in the “Haven of Hope Hospital 70th Anniversary Open Day – Medical Service Guided Tour” on 8 Nov 2025.

Under the guidance of hospital staff, students visited several major departments, including the Clinical Diagnostic Department, Day Medical Centre, Occupational Therapy Department, Physiotherapy Department, X-ray Department, and the Life and Death Education Unit. They had the opportunity to observe hospital operations and learn about the collaboration among different professional teams. Doctors, nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, pharmacists, laboratory technicians, and medical social workers also shared their work experiences and insights into the development of their professions, allowing students to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the healthcare system.

One student remarked that the visit helped her better understand the division of work among various hospital professions, and that the “Life and Death Education” session taught her to face life’s final stage with a calm mindset. Another student shared that the experience of visiting the mortuary was both real and thought-provoking, deepening her appreciation of the professionalism required in handling life and death situations. Others were impressed by the hospital’s advanced rehabilitation facilities, including a hydrotherapy pool specially designed for patients with back and joint problems. The pool, equipped with underwater treadmills, hydro-massage, and counter-current systems, allows therapists to observe and assist patients’ recovery exercises effectively.

The visit not only broadened students’ knowledge of the medical profession but also inspired them to reflect on the value of life and their future career aspirations.
