Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of Victory: A Visit to the Hong Kong Museum of Coastal Defence To mark the 80th anniversary of the victory in the War of Resistance Against Japan, 26 senior students visited the Hong Kong Museum of Coastal Defence on October 4, 2025. This meaningful excursion was a joint initiative by our school's Chinese History Department, History Department, and the Moral, Civic, and National Education Committee.
During the visit, students attended the special exhibition titled "Standing Together for Peacebuilding: Commemorating the 80th Anniversary of Victory in the War of Resistance in Guangdong and Hong Kong." The exhibition vividly portrayed the united resistance of the people of Guangdong and Hong Kong against the Japanese invasion. It highlighted how Hong Kong's people actively supported the war effort through contributions of manpower and resources, organizing fundraising and relief activities. A significant focus was the Hong Kong Independent Battalion of the Dongjiang Column, formed by the Communist Party of China, whose members fought skillfully and courageously against the Japanese aggressors, writing a heroic and epic chapter in our history.
Through this visit, our students not only deepened their understanding of the history of the War of Resistance but also gained a profound appreciation for the importance of safeguarding national security and cherishing the peace we have today.
